Every home, business and store has a floor. Usually they are plain timber or concrete and we will all have different opinions about what the best covering for the floor would be. Floor coverings come in many different materials and within those different materials there will be many different types of flooring.
A good example would be timber flooring. There are two main types. Hardwood flooring and softwood flooring. Within each of those main types are all the different types of timber from various different trees from all over the world.
We also have the manufactured laminate flooring materials which may use a veneer from the different types of timber as their finished surface or they may be printed with the appearance of wood from a certain variety of tree.
We could also use other materials for covering our floor such as stone, floor tiles, carpet, rugs or even specialist floor paint and surface finishes.
With such a wide variety of different floor finishes available choosing can become rather complicated. In most cases people have a basic idea about what they might like to have on the floor and we hope to show and explain some of the differences and give some suggestions as to the benefits and disadvantages of certain materials in some situations when adding floor covering to your home or other premises.
